Every great event, it has been well said, brings one absolute new thing into the world. Such one event was begining of Basaveshwara Veerashaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha, on Karthika Shuddha Pratipada 1828 Shaka (18.06.1906) with the sole objectives to spread education among rural masses. The Sangha named after Sri Basaveshwar, a visionary, a mystic, a religious leader, a social reformer and a leader of literary revolution par excellence of 12th Century. His Holiness Shri Gurubasava Swamiji of Beeluru a legendary ascetic and a mystic, graced the Sangha as first president. The Sangha which started its educational venture with Sanskrit Pathashala in 1907, has grown over the years into the citadel of education with a network of more than 110 institutions.
